Widening Participation & Neurodiversity Support

Support for students who have the potential but not the head start, and for neurodivergent students who need sessions run in a way that works for them.

  • Widening participation is part of our mission
  • Adjustments for neurodivergent students

Who this is for

  • Students from underprivileged backgrounds who have the ability but not the network, the contacts or the school support that other applicants take for granted.
  • Neurodivergent students who can do the thinking but find the interview format itself, meaning the timing, the eye contact and the switching between stations, the hardest part.
  • Families who would not otherwise be able to consider paid admissions support and want to know what is available.

What's included

  • Coaching that starts from where the student actually is, without assuming family contacts in medicine or a school with an admissions programme.
  • Adjustments to how sessions run for neurodivergent students, agreed with the student and family in advance.
  • Work on the parts of the interview format, rather than the content, that cause the most difficulty, including timing and station switching.
  • Honest guidance about the contextual and widening participation routes each university runs, checked against that university's own published criteria.

How it works

  1. 1

Tell us what is in the way

That might be cost, it might be a school with no experience of medical applications, or it might be a diagnosis that makes the standard format harder. We would rather know at the start.

  2. 2

    Agree the adjustments

For neurodivergent students we agree in advance how sessions run, including pacing, breaks and how feedback is given.

  3. 3

Work on format and content together

Content teaching runs as it does for everyone. The extra work goes into the specific parts of the format that are getting in the way.

What you will be able to do afterwards

  • Go into interviews having practised the format, not just read about it.
  • Know which universities run contextual or widening participation routes that this student may be eligible for.
  • Ask universities for interview adjustments knowing what is reasonable to request.
