Personal Statement Review
Detailed written feedback on a draft personal statement, so a student sends off a statement that reads like a doctor in the making rather than a list of achievements.
- Written feedback on a draft you already have
- Medicine and dentistry statements
- Turnaround [TO CONFIRM]
- Price [TO CONFIRM]
Who this is for
- Students who already have a draft written and want it marked properly before it goes to UCAS. This is the page you want if the words exist and the question is whether they are good enough.
- Students whose statement reads as a list of work experience placements without any reflection on what they learnt.
- Reapplicants who are reusing last year's statement and need to know what to cut and what to rewrite.
What's included
- A read of the full draft against what medical and dental admissions tutors look for.
- Line by line written comments, not a general impression.
- Specific notes on where reflection is missing and where a placement is described rather than learnt from.
- Notes on structure, opening and closing, and on anything that would raise a question at interview.
- [TO CONFIRM] Number of drafts reviewed and whether a follow up read is included.
- [TO CONFIRM] Turnaround time.
How it works
- 1
Send the draft
Send the current draft along with the courses being applied to, so the feedback is written against the right requirements.
- 2
We read and comment
The statement is read in full and returned with written comments through the draft. Turnaround is [TO CONFIRM].
- 3
Rewrite with the notes
The student rewrites using the comments. We do not write the statement for them, because admissions tutors can tell and because it has to survive being asked about at interview.
What you will be able to do afterwards
- Submit a statement where every placement mentioned earns its place by showing what was learnt.
- Answer 'tell us about your personal statement' at interview without contradicting what was written.
- Know which parts of the application are strong and which need attention elsewhere.
